did EVERYONE have an English teacher that changed their life?

Sophomore year of high school, 1993, my English teacher wrote, “Dave is Evil” on the chalkboard because she disagreed with my politics.
She sent me to the Vice Principal for a psych evaluation—“he has an unhealthy obsession with right-wing politics,” she said.
Thankfully, I had other teachers and my parents to come to my defense. But the meetings and paperwork lasted several infuriating months.
She was your typical teachers union partisan Democrat. I had a couple right-leaning teachers, too—you could identify them because they didn’t bring politics into the classroom and bully their students. I didn’t give a damn; I argued right back.
